Biting Point by Sid Sagar

Hull and touring Spring/Summer 2025

A new play by Sid Sagar, Biting Point is a story that asks big questions about race, class and privilege. It is about the people in our community and how the constant pressure we’re all under can shape us into people we don’t want to be. All this will be told in Middle Child’s unique style, taking high-quality, bold new writing and placing audiences at the heart of the experience.

Biting Point is supported by Without Walls Blueprint R&D, developed with the support of the National Theatre Generate Programme, Davina Moss, Tessa Walker, Jennifer Davis and Roy Williams.

Fresh Ink: Hull Playwriting Festival 2025

Fresh Ink is an annual theatre festival supporting writers from Hull to create and develop new plays in the city.

Inspired by “scratch” theatre nights, Fresh Ink will showcase early versions of new plays especially commissioned for the festival.

The inaugural 2024 edition featured script-in-hand performances, alongside writer workshops, industry talks and a keynote speech from David Byrne, artistic director of the Royal Court.

Fresh Ink is produced by co-founders Middle Child and sponsored by co-founders Wykeland, with support from the J F Brignall Charitable Trust.

The 2024 festival was also supported Hull City Council, I Am Fund, Two Ridings Community Foundation, Hull and East Riding Charitable Trust, Hull Truck Theatre, the Warren Youth Project and the Garrick Charitable Trust.
